What's your fantasy?

Photo © Phil Date | Dreamstime.com
It's funny, I've been writing for a while now and I never ever thought I was catering to anyone's fantasy.  So on Sunday I was at work chatting with someone over facebook and he quickly pointed out that I was catering to his every fantasy....vat?...really? lil old me??? Seriously, really?

I was so proud. I flailed and the girl sitting beside was like "oi vey!" (No Havan you CANNOT point me on this blog). It was a very pleasant surprise for me. I mean who would have thought there were men like Jose DeLuca out there who love their Bears (well I knew that but like Jose??). Or like Hei from MOLOKAI. The thought of peole living vicariously through my characters is amazing to me but to fantasize about them just really turns me on (grins).

I try to write men who are upstanding--who are a little flawed but aren't morally corrupt. I try to write men who are sexy in their own way not physically but mentally and emotionally.

The purpose of this post is to ask what your fantasies are? What do you love between two men getting all hot and sexy with each other? Tell me here or email me. I have a SONS OF EROS tshirt to give away so if you comment here at the blog, I will for sure pick one person and send them the tshirt.

What is your fantasy? (please keep it legal - thanks lol but seriously...)

The Apprentice DOM

In celebration of my sexy, new story Hot Summer Nights: Molokai, (which is officially an ARe Best seller!) I've decided to write a sexy lil morsel for you all to enjoy.

Detective Moses Krew walked into his office and hurled his jacket to the back of a chair. Slamming the door shut behind him, he took a moment to hold his breath then pushed it out his mouth with a low woosh. He stood in the centre of the room, hands a-kimbo and glared off into space.

MOSES
If that man thinks he was going to waltz back into THAT house and grovel, he was going to wait until hell froze over.

But he loved Danny--what in the hell did he mean by I have some submissive tendencies? When it comes to anything different in sex Moses was clueless. Well he wasn't really Clueless, he just wasn't sure any of his lovers were interested in him wanting to pull their hair and spank their asses.  But Danny was different.

Hauling in some air, he took a step toward his desk but stopped and swung around as there was a knock on the door. "Go away," he shouted. "I mean it."

The door swung open and Moses growled.

"I'm not going anywhere," Danny said. The anger in his voice was evident. "What the hell is your problem? You asked me to trust you, right? And the moment, the fucking moment,  I tell you I like it a little different you bail?"

"I didn't bail! And keep your voice down!" Moses walked around him to close the door before turning to look at him. "I didn't bail on you. I just don't know what you want."

"You don't know what I want? Really? I know you're not a virgin."

"Don't be an asshole."

"Then read between the lines, Moses."

"No I want you to spell it out for me. I'm just that dense."

Danny sighed. He walked closer and rubbed his palms up and down moses' arms. Moses met his eyes and for a moment all they did was stand there in the silence. Finally Danny spoke.

"What I want, is for you to DOM me."

"What does that mean?"

"Dom---short for dominate."

"I don't want to hurt you."

Danny laughed softly. "You won't. I'll teach you Moses. And if you don't like it we don't have to.  We can sort out the details a little later but this will be amazing, I swear."

Moses smiled then,  reaching a hand behind Danny's head to pull the man's forehead to his lips. Deep down he knew he would do anything Danny asked. Chuckling at that thought, he looked into Danny's eyes again. "Tonight when I come home, you should be naked."

"Say it like you mean it, Moses. You want to see this ass? Demand it."

For a moment Moses simply stared into those beautiful, hypnotizing green eyes. "Tonight when I come home. Be naked."

He felt Danny shivered in his arms and knew he'd said it right.

Take time for YOU!

My father always says if you don't have anything to say, don't force it. Let it go. So last week I had nothing to say so I didn't blog about anything. This week I have tons to say and I hope you take heed. Before I do that I have to do shamelss plugs for my books Second Time Around and Jose's Surrender. Both books are no available. Second Time Around is from Rebel Ink Press and Jose's Surrender is book 4 in my Sons of Eros series with Silver Publishing. They are available wherever you buy your Remmy yumminess.

Now, onward to what I would like to say today. So often in our lives we go about letting everything consume us.   For me its my fight to finish school, get work and a place of my own.  Add to that my writing, my bid to have some form of a social life and all that good stuff, my days becomes a dim blur and my nights are filled with nightmares and dreams that make no earthly sense.  I get really tired these days because I do way too much at times. My friend Jade yells at me often because I keep seemingly biting off more than I can chew often times and it worries her. My best friend thinks I am insane because I just picked up on script writing again.

So why am I saying all of this to you? Most of us love having our own things. We love being independent. But sometimes we take this push to become more than we are or more than our parents are/were.  Then it becomes almost like an obsession. We are afraid of failure so we work too hard, party too hard, we focus on everyone else too hard.  We often times forget that we need to listen to our bodies. Though sometimes when our bodies tell us "I'm tired. Please stop. Stop making me do stuff!" We see that as weakness so we push our bodies pass tolerable situations. When we hit the wall he push, fight, shove through the wall adding more stress and tear to our souls. Sometimes when our bodies say to us "I'm tired. Pease stop. Stop making me do stuff" we keep going because we don't want to seem lazy, or lacadasical.
.
The truth is, often when our bodies say "I'm tired. Please stop. Stop making me do stuff" we ought to listen.  We should stop, take a breath, lean against a fence with the sun setting and lick an ice-cream. Don't like ice-cream? (what kind of person don't like ice-cream? That shiz is delicious!) Then just take a moment to laze about, stare at the sky, throw rocks into a lake, watch a movie, go for a walk. The world is chaotic enough without you having a nervous breakdown.

TAKE TIME FOR YOU and don't feel selfish about it. Look at it this way, If you're not at your best? Then all those other people you always seem to spend all your time looking after, will miss out on your fabulous self!

hugs,
Remmy Duchene

One Downside to Getting Published

Hello all you braZen sexy beasts!

It is Tuesday and once again I come bearing a cloud of doom. I am not purposely trying to be dark or morbid but if I can help new authors from falling into the holes that I have fallen into then I should, right?  I take great pleasure in helping other authors, especially the new ones because if I didn't have help I wouldn't be here right now. It's a kind of pay it forward kind of dealie.

This blog entry is not to bring you down or get you to stop writing or be depressed. This blog post is to get you to just spend a little more time picking and choosing where you send your work and who you let handle your art. Now with that said, please read on.

Getting published is earth-shartteringly (I know that’s not a word but work with me here), amazi-rific! I mean come on, someone else aside from your mom and dad, big sister, and boyfriend think you have some talent—and not only that, they think you’re so wonderful they decide to publishing your  work. That is bloody brilliant.

But be careful.

Before it even gets to an acceptance letter there are things to watch out for. Do not let the excitement cause you to fall for rip offs or publishers who are just so downright horrid, everyone is leaving in droves and every website you’ve ever seen them mention on has nothing but horrid  things to say about it.

Why am I writing this blog? Well I am going through it at the moment. One publisher, which shall remain nameless for now, is purposefully holding my books hostage after I have given the required notice in the form my contract stated. Now they are officially in breach of my contract but that’s a whole other story.

So here are some tips.

Research your publisher – you know the one that looks all fancy and shiz? Yeah, especially those ones. Google them. I mean not everyone is going to have a glowing review for every publisher but if you see that more than five sites have something bad to say about the publisher—steer clear. They are not just writing that crap because they feel malicious. Read all these sites and blogs and posts carefully.  If in doubt, email a bunch of the authors from the house you’re thinking subbing to. If they seem overtly stand-offish, there has to be a reason. If you get a bad feeling about a publisher, trust your instincts because chances are you’re right.

READ YOUR CONTRACT! I read all my contracts. Know most of them inside and out. I print extra copies and mark them up—highlighting dates and clauses. Make sure you do that if that’s what you have to do to learn them. These contracts are legally binding so make sure you know what you’re signing.

We are writes. We spend months sometimes years researching a book and then another year to finish writing said book or however long it took you to finish your masterpiece. You craft each character, each scene, each everything with pain-staking care and deliberation. Ensure you use the same care and determination to find your work a suitable home. Don’t just submit it and contract it with just about anyone who offers. BE CAREFUL. Do not get stuck in the same hole most of us have in recent years.

Shameless Plug :)

Hey gang! Welcome to another week! It is Tuesday one day closer to Friday!

Let me first of all welcome all our new followers! We are so glad you're here and we hope we can spread a little smile into your day.

Now for the reason we're here! My shameless plug...HA! I said Shameless and I'm writing a story called SHAMELESS - get it? get it? *hangs head* sorry, bad joke.

So a little while ago, Cassandre Dayne (link above) invited me into her series of stories for Hot Summer Nights.  At first I was terrified. I mean come on! I have to write with Cassandre Dayne who has books hitting bestselling charts all over the place.  So, I hit google, and I dug and dug until I found some obscure island that I liked the name of and Montserrat had a perfect place for some nice hot, love *says this in a deep, bass-ish, Barry White-esque voice*.

I wrote, deleted, re-wrote, deleted, freaked out and write "Cassandre Dayne I need you" ALOT on facebook and send her bits and pieces with "What do you think" written after them then I messaged my friends Havan and Jade and asks "What do you think?" and after freaking out I finished it. I freaked out a little more and sent it to Cassandre who eyed me with her Mistress eyes and shipped it off to our pubisher (Rebel Ink Press). Our beautiful CA made me a cover, it went through edits and finally it was released.

On Saturday I went home from work to a message on my wall from Cassandre basically saying "I TOLD YOU SO" Hot Summer Nights: Montserrat had apparently reached the #1 Drama spot on All Romance eBooks.....wait...*blinks* What???  And just in case I didn't believe her, she added the following picture.

After so many years of writing and getting stuff out there, I still flailed, and squealed, and ran around my room shouting "yes! YES! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!" Then I had to put on my new favorite song of the summer "Calabria" by Enur featuring Natasja. *smirks* What? It was cause for celebration! I am so happy.

You can find it at ARE or where you buy your Remmy yumminess. The story is a short, fun, sexy one. Here's a blurb:

Chance Snider is a volcanologist and he's bored with his job. To give it a shot in the arm, he decides to lead an expedition into the exclusion zone of Plymouth on the Caribbean island of Montserrat. To appease his sister's worry should the volcano erupt again, Chance decides to hire Scott LaFromboise, an ex-marine turned guide, into the Exclusion zone to watch his back. The thing is, everyone believes Scott LaFromboise is in love with Chance. Everyone sees it except Chance.

The last thing Scott wants to do is lead another expedition into the exclusion zone, but for some reason, he just can't say no to Chance Snider. He knows he has a thing for the brainy, chocolate Adonis, but he'll be damned if he'll admit it. To go three weeks without holding Chance down and taking the pleasure he knows Chance is hiding between those perfectly rounded cheeks--that's all he has to do. Go the length of the trip without falling deeper. Or getting his heart broken.

Have a lovely week!

Co-Authoring

A while back, my friend Lee Owens and I wrote a book together. It's called RIPPED APART. We were both going through some stuff so it wound up coming out in the story. Talk about living vicariously through our characters.  But anyways, this blog is about co-authoring.

Co-authoring is not for everyone. If you're selfish, not flexible and just mean--it's definitely not for you. You have to be willing to do what my drama teacher drilled into my head all through University--you have to be willing to say YES to almost everything your partner comes up with.  Just say YES and see where it goes. If you are willing to say yes, you'd be so surprise at the beautiful things you can come up with!

It's hard enough writing by yourself, so why would anyone in their right mind write with someone else? I mean damn, we can barely get along as is. But there is something magnificiently breath-taking about  having the use of two brains for one wonderful product! When I wrote with John Simpson, it was amazing! It was a waiting game, sitting on the edge of my seat, biting my nails to see what was coming next! It's a genuine reaction because you don't know! It's the mystery of it all.

Lee Owens was amazing as well. We would spend hours at Tim Hortons with our labtops and extra batteries, notepads and pens and just wrote. I think we put someone's kids through college with the amount of ice-caps and muffins we bought.

They are so many things you have to worry about with co-authoring. For me, I find you have to worry about people flaking. That's happened to me on so many occassions I've lost count.  Find people you TRUST not to flake. At the end of the day if they flake, there isn't much you can do. You can't use the story unless you have a signed contract that says if one person flake the other can use the whole story. Other than tht you basically have to go through and discard all the bits from the other person and lord knows no one has that kind of time and for me the patience.  You then have to worry about contracts and agreeing on edits and agreeing on covers...Hence why you can't be hard, unflinching and mean. This is not just YOUR work--its the work of all the authors involved.

It's not all cake and coffee....if you're not allergic to coffee.

With technology today, you can write a book with someone from anywhere in the world. With google docs, and MSN Skydrive and a whole slew of other programs. You can have access to your file at anytime together! The beauty of google docs is you can be in there at the same time, chatting and seeing what's written!

Pick your writing partner carefully:

  1. Pick someone you trust. There's nothing worse than a wishy-washy person who starts out writing, it starts getting good then the person disappears. Do NOT find your writing partner on kijiji or craigslist--it's not worth the aggravation.
  2. Make sure you both have access to the file at all times so it's backed up. Google Docs is amazing for writing together but it sucks for formatting. I would suggest just use google doc as a back up and send each other word files back and forth.
  3. Before you start writing, set out the rules and stand by them.  No incest, no grose-icks. Decide between genres then sweet/sensual/erotic/bdsm. There's nothing worse than writing and you want to go scald-your-skin-hot and your partner wants to go behind-closed-door-loveys. Then what do you do?
  4. Do not restrict story ideas.  Say YES to everything (within reason). Be open.
  5. Check in with each other from time to time. Phone calls, facebook, emails, skype, msn, yahoo messenger...take time to talk to each other.
  6. Edits---oh the dreaded E word. First round of edits, USE TRACK CHANGES ALL THE TIME! It sucks having someone edit and you have NO clue what they did. Edit your sections first, the bits that you wrote. Then go through an ensure everything flows and there are no spelling errors. Do not edit your partner's bits at the first round. You cannot read your partner's mind and know what is supposed to be there.
Here's one co authored piece I got done and it was amazing!

One act of violence, is enough to shatter a love that should have lasted a life time.

One act of violence sends Colby Master's life spiralling out of control and sends his lover Leo Giofranco from his life. It took a year of healing to give Colby some time to come to his senses but is he too late? Has he hurt Leo too much to be forgiven? Wiill Colby be able to make amends or has Leo moved on?

This is on Amazon!

I hope this helps you...

Can I Touch There?

Tuesday is upon us and while we here in Toronto fight the cra-cra heat wave, I try to stay cool but its really hard when I write erotica.  I  mean think about it. I have to battle with different kinds of sexy from clothes ripping, tied-up, spanking the booty kind of sexy, to sitting on a park-bench while making out kind of sexy.

The rough kind isn't a bad thing. I mean sometimes you don't want to be made love to. You want your hair pulled, dirty talkin', roughed up against the wall kind of sex. You want it wild, screaming, grunting, sweaty and in the gutter.  Come on, admit it, we all know what you're thinking.

Other times--you want sweet, caresses, soft kisses. You want kind words and bodies writhing to the beat of lightning flashing outside the window.   Remember when Michael Bolton's "Can I Touch You There?" was vulgar?  I remember. When I was little and first heard this song, I couldn't stop giggling. I mean, can he touch me where, exactly?

*GASP*

NO WAY!

*giggle*

Then I got older and music became a much bigger part of my life.  Think about it, there's a song for every mood you can think of. You name the emotion and I could probably google a song that goes with that mood.  But the older I got, the more I paid attention to the lyrics and found this song so unbearably sexy in the most sensual, delicious kind of way.

This is not really the video, the real video is in Vevo and it refuses to work through Blogger but just listen to the song.  It's even better if you lay in the dark, turn off all your lights and lie on your back, close your eyes....lol...really!

But see what I mean? Sexy can be soft and kind and sometimes, we all need soft and kind.

Have a lovely week!

Stalker!

Ever since I started getting published, I have been a strong believer in being available. What do I mean about being available?  Well, answering reader questions or comments that sort of thing. The down side--one of the downside to this is having stalkers. Yes, writers are like rockstars to some people and they do stalk you. Creepy, right?

Scary story...right after I had Caribbean Heat - I had a guy from Barbados stalking me on facebook, myspace and emails. It was a tad strange because he was sending me emails telling me he was in love with me. Never in my live have I had a stalker before. These days we're being stalked on facebook.

Possible signs you have a fb stalker (they are obvious but still):

  • Is the person failing to leave you alone despite your various requests to stop messaging you
  • Are they leaving lots of comments that are suggestive of the two of you spending more time, or even the rest of your lives, together
  • Are you being bullied and/or threatened?
  • Are you experiencing a case where the person will simply not leave you alone but keeps posting updates, sending messages, and constantly butting in?
Here are a few tips to dealing with facebook stalkers.

*hugs*

Remmy-licious Erick

At the moment I am plotting this new paranormal that I won't start writing until the end of this year, but the truth is I need to work on it a little at a time since Paranormal isn't really my forte.  I am thinking to call it SOUL EATER but it sound like...crap eater lol. But still. It's about an immortal and a cop who is not an immortal.

The thing is, I am switching it up--I think.  My cop is going to be a rather sexy, chocolate adonis name Erick Strata.

This man, I don't know who he is really, but he's the inspiration behind Erick Strata.  He's a tough as nails, no nonsense, by the book cop. That is until he meets Sheng Huang Hu. Who can be infuriating as hell--and that's putting it nicely lol.

There's going to be some action, some ACTION and some more action. I don't know where it's going to end up but who knows, right?

Love,
Remmy
